EARLY Antique WHITNEY KENNEDY Lever Action Rifle
Description: EARLY Antique WHITNEY KENNEDY Lever Action Rifle Possible First Year Production w Serpentine Lever! Here we present an antique Whitney Kennedy Lever Action Rifle in .44-40 WCF, made circa 1879 in New Haven, Connecticut. The Whitney Kennedy was the next iteration of the Whitney Burgess Rifle. Production was short-lived with only about 15,000 of all variants from 1879-1886. Obviously, Winchester was the top choice for most in the lever gun market during this period with over 222,937 Winchester Model 1873s having been made by the end of 1886. This Whitney Kennedy Rifle is very early in production, in fact, number 207. It features the early serpentine lever and a 24-inch round barrel chambered in the venerable .44-40 WCF. Just like the Winchester 1873, this rifle would have been a great companion to a Colt or Merwin Hulbert revolver in the same caliber. The top of the barrel is marked “WHITNEYVILLE ARMORY CT. U.S.A. KENNEDY”. The breech end of the barrel is marked “.44 CAL C.F.” The tang is marked “PATENTED/JANUARY 7, 1875-MAY 10, 1879”. The overall condition is good and looks as though it has just come out of the attic. The metal surfaces are dark with age with a deep brown patina. The markings are legible. The stock is in good shape, showing the handling marks of yesteryear. The bore is dark with a layer of dust. The action on this rifle is strong. Here is a great and distinctive lever action rifle that would have been a trusty alternative to the Winchester of the day, the Model 1873. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 24 inches. Caliber: .44-40 WCF Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $2875 #7106 SOLD Antique: Yes |
