Lee Enfield No.4 Mk. I, British/Israeli Sniper. Cal. .303, Ser E356XX Dated 1944. *REDUCED DRASTICALLY*
Description: Inv. 6501 Lee Enfield No.4 Mk. I, British/Israeli Sniper. Cal. .303, Ser E356XX Dated 1944. *REDUCED* This gun started out as a proper Holland and Holland built British sniper in 1944. It went, at some point to Canada for a rebuild and eventually to the Israeli Army. The side of the frame has the proper "T" (telescope) stamp and the butt socket the proper "TR" (Telescope Rifle) stamp. The assorted parts, due to the rebuild are all proper for the sniper but not matching. The front barrel band is stamped with an S. The parkerized finish is at about 95-%. The bulk of the loss is just due to sharp edge silvering and slight rub mark where the bayonet was attached. There are no rust spots or pits anywhere. The dark walnut stock and handguard is very nicely color matched and is just about flawless, showing no sign of use. There appears to be a Canadian proof on the wrist and a serial number with some letters. The bore has seen very little use and is really quite nice. It is very bright with sharp well pronounced rifling and some very light scattered frost. The scope mount screws are properly pinned and the scope has indeed been refinished and re-stamped by the Israelis. The Israeli markings can be seen in the pics of the top of the scope. The lenses are not cracked and are quite clear. What a history this gun has had. A sniper with the Brits and the Canadians in WWII then sold to the Israelis in time for the Six Day War. A real conversation piece for any WWII collector...... $3,745 Shipping.
