NICE COLT SAA SINGLE ACTION 38-40 X 4-3/4” BARREL
Description: ********SOLD********
Description:
This Colt has matching serial numbers on frame, trigger guard, and backstrap. The gate number 3514 also appears under the frame. The grips fit perfectly as apparently original, with the initial “J”, “RS” and “1905” scratched inside. Both grips show about the same amount of wear to the checkering, with slightly more on the right grip. The gun cocks and locks up with decent tightness, and both the safety and half cock notches are functional and in the correct places, so hammer needs no re-building. Gun retains a trace of blue with the balance being generally a smooth grey.
The bore has strong lands and grooves, with the expected scattered patches of light pitting. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would call this one a 7 bore condition. The steel front sight remains in its original 0.52” x 0.30” tall configuration. The ejector head is perfectly straight and fits nicely to the underside of barrel, not badly bent downward toward the cylinder as so many are.
All original markings are very bold, including the barrel address, serial numbers, patent dates, “38 W. C .F .” and expected “41” on underside of barrel. Note that underside of this barrel is not beat up and gouged around the cylinder pin area, as most have been fought with a pliers or other inappropriate “tools”. All screws appear to be original and remain nice, showing no signs of buggering with a bad screwdriver.
This Colt comes with a $150 Factory letter noting that it was shipped in 1904. Must be shipped to an FFL licensed dealer.
Terms:
No International sales. Not being sold as a shooter, but as a functional collector’s Colt SAA. If you want to shoot any older Colt, first take it to a gunsmith and have it checked out.
Three day inspection period, but ask questions prior to buying (see additional notes on returns at bottom). Additional pictures sent on request.
I accept Bank Cashier’s Checks and Postal Money Orders. No personal checks or Western Union MO’s.
