WINCHESTER 270 by GEORGE SCHIELKE from N.J. - FULL ENGRAVED CUSTOM - PRE-64 - Full Feature Machined Integral Barrel - Mannlicher Stock - Very Nice Workmanship & Detail #70446, A Winchester Pre-64 Model 70 Total Custom and Fully Engraved Chambered to a 270 Winchester. The top of the barrel engraved "Made By George Schielke, Gun Smith Of Washington Crossing, N. J." and below this "For Basil Wise Stetson Of Princeton 1965". It has a complete Custom 19" barrel that has a machined integral short 1/4 rib with 1 folding sight, An integral front ramp that is near perfect in profile plus an integral barrel lug where the front sling eye attaches and an integral muzzle hook 1" back of the muzzle on the bottom of the barrel that locks into a steel hook inletted into the stock at the forend tip. The action is with a checkered bolt stop release and the original Model 70 floorplate and trigger guard. A full length Mannlicher style stock dated inside July 15, 1965, Full wrap around checkering with a carved border on all sides of the panels, cheekpiece, 14 5/8" LOP over a horn buttplate, 6 Lbs. 11 Oz. as is, The entire action body is very nicely engraved in a Germanic floral pattern with an early Military Eagle scene on the floorplate with a ribbon "There's None Like Us". The bolt handle, bolt sleeve, bolt knob, barrel cylinder and all screws are engraved to match. The top of the receiver bridge, all of the 1/4 rib and the front ramp are engraved in a matte pattern. The inside of the stock at the bottom of the front recoil lug has a very neat stamp "N". The inletting inside has the appearance of any best English Pre-War Sidelock gun you have had the pleasure to pull apart. This gun remains in 95-96% condition since it was delivered to Mr. Stetson when he graduated from Princeton.
